@Victorim ,

thank you very much, but the Salix b. is listed as zone 3.
Can work with any tree or shrub that can handle 90 - 93 deg.F for say
6 to 8 months.
But a zone three would require a cold room set for a much lower
upper temperature.

Very Kind of you !!

Perhaps a small rock or a fist sized piece clay from your area.
BUT no rush.
And you could send it to one of my relatives in the UK.

Have a Fustic in the front ground growing, just a thick trunk.
No one pays attention, the rain waters it.
It is about, after a year, 7 or 8 feet in height.
Branches have been set for air layers and then it is to be stumped
As a stump, to be given as a gift to a few members of the local
Bonsai club.

To make sure the cultivar does not die out.
Easy peasy.
Good Day
Anthony

@Gary McCarthy ,

the air pot is a flat shape that is rolled into a cylinder.
There is a circular shape with square holes that fits between
the points internally.
You can adjust the volume of soil held by the cylinder by moving
the circular shape up and down inside.

Here is an image that should explain.
Plus the blue plugs that lock the flat shape together.

Look closely at the top left hand side to observe how the flat is folded into
a cylinder.

Or a million just like it. If you go back far enough, say 7 or 8 years you will see everyone thumbing their nose at this method of growing and me saying it's the only thing that works well in the desert. Also, search "rice sieves" when you are shopping.

It's like anything else we do, it does no good to just hack at your tree blindly with random techniques, you need to understand what you are trying to accomplish with each tool.

Thanks Guys [ @just.wing.it and @Victorim ]

I would have had to start the topic with the older images, but I was more interested in
if I had already shown the tamarind in the red pot.

Normally I will show, then if nothing more is expected, the tree would not be shown for
5 years, To see if any kind of real change has taken place.

I do wonder how many actually try the techniques, and hopefully at least 3 times.

Repeated Information ----------- it takes 3 to 5 years to prepare a tree for a major exhibition.
Then it has to be allowed to rest or risk damage.

It also takes 8 to 10 years to mature a design and the tree will peak as the design goes.
Then grow out of it.

So we generalise the shape, leave it rounded.

Been doing this growing bit so long, that Designs on paper, drawings, are first, then a
seedling is grown into the shape.
See the Gmelina and Design left here as images.

Hopefully that will help clear up some situations.
Good Day
Anthony
