The fiber is named dyneema. It's also used for kite string. And a close relative is kevlar. You can't break 30 lb. test with your hands.

Never heard of it, but I'll look it up. Sounds like it isn't that great for bonsai wire.
It isn't at all. It has the same properties as spider silk. It's flexible,thin,floats doesnt stretch and is ultra strong. I use it as fishing line. 60lb.test is the same diameter as 12 lb. monofilament line. I use that for jerking fish out of thick weeds and lilly pads.
