Although I’m definitely more on the rookie side of my bonsai journey I have picked up a few “apprentices.” They said they would help around the garden as long as I provide food, but they’re turning out to be pretty damn lazy!

This guy is great at keeping the rodents away and is very focused when he wants to beBC188B25-024A-4E65-9C49-29087D26943D.jpeg

BUT I regularly catch him sleeping on the job

Same with this guy, always sleeping when he should be watering!

And these two often do more harm than good, when they’re not sunbathing!

Clearly, they didn't do their apprenticeship in Japan, but they are cute.

While this one doesn't pay too much attention to the trees, he is useful nonetheless. He seems fixated on insect control and occasionally fertilized the odd tree here and there, although this seems inadvertent at best.

My helper did a decent job of snapping my aspen in half which resulted in some pretty sweet jin’ing. Unfortunately, she thought 3 times would be better. Newbie overpruning mistake and killed it

She mostly just lays somewhere and never helps
