This is another one of my favorite shohin projects that I started over the winter (2020), equipped with an ice-cold Lime Bubly, of course. Pretty much all of my trees are shohin sized. I have a couple trees that are a little larger, but I’m in love with shohin. I also tend to really enjoy a thinner more elegant look, which is why I love this tree so much. In future, it will of course have some better taper - I’ve had great success creating taper with only radial root pruning in my other benjamina, and I’m giving this tree the same treatment.
1.5 years from cutting with no taper.
So, I do expect the trunk to have a sturdier presence in the coming years. Also this is the max height. In fact I’ll probably work to shorten it a small bit, but not by much. As I said, I have an appreciation for slender elegance.
Edit: Also, I plan to have an even smaller pot - I think his eventual home will be a 4” round pot. But that’s for future-me to decide.
