I just love tridents. These should do well for you in Savannah. Keep us up-to-date on your work with these. I might eventually plan to do a low chop on the left one and plan the one on the right in the ground to thicken the trunk.

So here's and update. I did a thread graft on this guy. Year before last, it took. But I think I set myself back a year or so on it. There was some issue with die back/ rot down the trunk from the chop. I cut the edge of the callus, and applied cut paste. It seems to have closed up. But now I think my thread graft is too low, and should be up the callus more. Should I relocate my graft? Move it up and use maybe an approach grafts or another thread graft? Or maybe hope I get a bud to pop closer to the chop? Any thoughts?

The thread graft is down the side the chop is on in case the pic doesn't show it that well. If I don't redo the graft could I maybe carve the wood a bit to make the graft come out on the change of direction?

Here is the other side of the tale. I'm thinking I need to do a Ground layer on this one. Also thinking there needs to be a couple big branches removed to improve taper and movent.

Here is what I was thinking about not sure yet. I don't like the big branch going straight up. its not low enough to make a twin trunk. I also think it needs more taper. So something more like this and maybe get some more movement on the trunk with a guy wire somewhere.

this may be a better angle. But I guess it all depends on how I work the roots. I'm thinking I have to fix them 1st. Any feed back would be welcome

I'm quite glad that was a graft. After looking at the first pic with the "arms" and the leader, I was like....'this won't go anywhere without grafts.'

You did it!

I don't think it needs redone.

You could put another at the callous and another lower.
Seems you can't have too many branches right now.

Good progression, glad I came to see!
