The thickest cutting I've ever rooted...what the heck is it?

This was the branch of an unwanted shrub on my parents land. They told me the shrub blooms many times and in varying colors during the season but they don't know what it is. I took a bunch of other cuttings from semi hardwood but this is the only one that rooted.

A 1'' base with an even larger heel that rooted in perlite and sphagnum. The leaves have a very silky and delicate texture almost like ripe peach skin. The flowers are small and can be purple, red or pink. The bark is rough and dark bone white. It took root and started new growth about 2 months ago and has been thriving ever since.

Anyone know what this is? I tried taking a bark closeup but my camera wants to blur it.
