Nice flowers peeking through on that boug, it looks really happy. It reminds me of one I killed about 16 years ago. You can just see it photobombing my “Ben Oki”azalea just a couple years before it met the master and earned its name!
I actually killed every tree I planted in that pot, so I decided it was cursed and sold it after the 4th fatality.

Progression snaps of another shore pine from wiring last fall, to spring growth and recent clean up and styling change!

I was starting to get nervous about the big trunk chop, but then today a sign of life appeared.

You must be doing a happy dance! I did one when i realised these Kishu grafts on my Sierra Juniper had taken and were extending this year. Would have done two happy dances if all the grafts had taken;) IMG_9266.JPG

This project tree is beginning to show some promise. This was originally the back. It had huge ugly scars that had healed but created a pigeon breast. Ugly, ugly, ugly. The other side, had the apex going to the back! THAT won’t do!

So, turned it around and made uros out of the big scars and hollowed it out. I will probably have to do more of that. Meanwhile, had to work on growing branches, etc. I had to build the apex better with sacrifices and chops.

So, today, it got wired after decandling. It needs to be repotted next spring.

It still needs some branches to elongate a bit here and there.
