What are Calkins? Never seen those on my Korean hornbeam. Here's mine starting to leaf out. In a
@vancehanna pot. He needs to start making pots again
Here’s the online description:
The
Korean Hornbeam is cherished for its small, light green serrated leaves which have exceptional orange and yellow autumn coloring. ... Mature
hornbeam specimens will produce white hop-like
flower blossoms in the spring and seed pods that are an attractive addition to the fall and winter display.
The hop like flower blossom is sometimes referred to as Catkins. That’s my understanding. Faulty fingers and my mind spelled Calkins. Yeah...weird I know...the T and the L aren’t even near each other on the keyboard. Basic human error on my part. I must have been thinking somewhere else.
My Korean Hornbeam trees are just now starting to roll open a few leaves. One tree is still in swollen buds only. It will be a couple weeks....and warmer temperatures...to open everything up. All the trees I have are just beginning like this now...except for the Field Maple, Acer Campestre, which is near half full leaf size right now.
