MORE SEEDS...........

these seeds interested me and I wanted to see if the picture of a variegated tree is the mother tree. and the seeds are not gathered until the auction is paid so they should be fresh. maybe?

HORRIBLE - BAD SHIPPING -
First pack pictured below had 30 crushed seeds out of 50. They did replace the broken seeds but the pack they sent with the 30 replacement seeds also had about 10 crushed seeds so all in all only 40 seeds instead of 50
They know that there packaging is not working yet they continue with the process.

Mikawa Kuromatsu, Japanse black pine seeds
Shipping took a bit longer but that was expected. Opposite of the last seller Bonsaiplaza really didn't want to let anything happen to these seeds the bot and full popcorn was surely overkill but appreciated.

How long did you soak? Lot of floaters with BonsaiPlaza. Will you sow the floaters?

24 hr soak. I didn't soak all the bonsaiplaza seeds I purchased, but I was surprised too. And as you can see they were all pretty much white seeds and they say those are usually immature seeds so it makes sense.

I am however stratifying all seeds and they have been separated and labeled. Sow we will see........

Ok so I guess I stratified for 2 and a half weeks or so. Put them in on the 4th and pulled them out on the 21st.
This is how I labeled each bag to know what seller and which seeds where floaters? or sinkers⚓.
20180121_145829.jpg20180121_143719.jpg

All ? were placed on the right side of the trays and ⚓ on the left. I had more seeds than I had cells so I did the 36 cells on the right with a singe seed. Then I would start from the rear of the right side and would use the cells not used by the floaters. Some times I would put 3 seeds in one cell just to have enough room.
20180121_143725.jpg
So i used 5 72 cell trays to plant 511 seeds

I need another couple strips of leds but I am hoping this works for now

First sign of life from Treeseeds.com with 2 seeds popping first on Jan 31st(10 days since sow) and the second on the Feb 1st
1 (3).jpeg1 (2).jpeg1 (1).jpeg

one of the Mikawa Kuromatu seeds started Feb 1st
2.jpeg2 (2).jpeg

And one from Rarexoticseeds.com as well
3 (1).jpeg3 (2).jpeg

And no heat mat. I have a small heat mat but in order to keep all plants in same conditions I will not be using it.

Soil looks pretty wet. How often are you watering?

I had just watered but every 3 days since I don't have covers for the trays and they are indoors. I let the tops of the soil start changing color before I water.

Awesome and thank you for the insight.

Resized_20180216_194634_8954.jpeg

In the left tray is the tray with my
Mikawa Kuromatu seeds from bonsaiplaza.com in front left and bad seeds in front right of tray
Mikawa seeds from myseeds.co behind those
JBP seeds from myseeds.co in the back of that tray in the right side
rarexoticseeds.com JBP seeds in the right tray. Doing well !!!

Resized_20180216_194643_1005.jpeg
The seeds from the chinese Amazon seller - Andradite
CRAP !!!

Resized_20180216_194649_7536.jpeg
Seeds from Amazon seller -TreeHelp Ltd. S are in the left tray - Not the best results just like the shipping
Right tray are some of my seeds from Treeseeds.com - They are doing great
Resized_20180216_194656_4700.jpeg

BUT WAIT !!!!!
I am new to pines and I dont know what this is that i see in the Treeseeds.com tray
Resized_20180216_194707_7458.jpeg
What Makes
Resized_20180216_194719_9686.jpeg
THIS happen?
Resized_20180216_194915_1818.jpeg
Resized_20180216_194946_5779.jpeg

So if anyone can maybe direct me into what this is an indication of I would be grateful
But just imagine a Pine with ghost white needles wouldn't that be cool..........and I would guess it will thrive in darkness....
