This was the second or third? Ficus I got when I first started getting into this. It was a gift and it came from a hardware store sometime in 2018. I had another and had already seen how easily cuttings would take so I got a bit crazy and chopped this into 3 parts. The base is this tree, one is still currently growing as a root over rock, and the third is just....growing doing its thing. Pictured in order of when I got it with the cut shown and a bit of a journey along the way. Warning, there is some miserable wiring in the earlier photos, prepare yourselves! I did not have much of a direction for this tree initially and its kind of won my heart in its..."on its way to some kind of refinement mallasi" that it currently is.
The grafting question is regarding the last/current photo. The 'apex' currently ends in a bit of a "T" shape but I left one long runner headed towards the viewing angle in hopes to use it as the apex. I have not gotten a shoot in the last 2 cut backs where I need it. Should I use the long shoot and approach graft it to the intersecting portion of the "T" shape that the top two branches currently form in order to use it for building an apex?
