Tips for training Loblolly Pine into Bonsai?

I live in North Houston and loblolly pine is rampant. I am new to bonsai and very inspired to create a forest style bonsai that imitates what I see where I live.

The pines grow everywhere and I have put some young seedlings into starter pots.

Does anyone have any experience or tips in training bonsai from loblolly pine seedlings?

Thank you!!

Bryan

A couple of things to remember when working with loblollies:

1. The trees in your picture are planted trees. They were originally planted in rows, like an orchard. They are all the same age, height and girth. In other words that is not a natural pine "forest". It IS an orchard. Your forest should have trees of at least three quite different ages -- most with mature bark. This means, probably, that your tree seedlings will have to grow by themselves in a pot with some root room for few years -- some longer than others.

2. Loblolly has rather long needles, so plan for a forest of larger trees; the needles will reduce, but not a real lot.
