To late to for trident maple trunk chop ?

Repoted this tree in April.

Was advised to chop as below on June to build up taper, yet was too busy to go over it. Can I still chop now, its around 30-35 degrees Celsius with high humidity levels. Or is it best to wait till Feb or April?

Considering this is the time of year a lot of people separate their air-layers (which effectively is a chop too) I would not see a reason not to.

That being said, I would favour doing it earlier in the growin season so the tree has more time to start covering the cut. So if there is no real reason to cut now, I would wait till next year.
