Joe Dupre'
Masterpiece
I like mica pots for their durability and value. They do leave a bit to be desired in the looks department. They scream "I've been made in a mold!" with sharp mold lines and bulky details. To remedy this, I took grinders, rasps and sandpaper to this one and softened the details a bit. I reduced the top rim width by almost 50% and blended that down into the insides. I rounded off the bottom of the rim and then sanded the whole rim to nice, rounded edges. I even rounded off the edges of the feet. Now it looks more like it had a run through a kiln. I would say it looks more rustic than before. Looking at the pics, I see a few blemishes I need to clean up. All in all, it was well worth the 30 minutes I spent on it. It's definitely not show quality, but I'll welcome it into my garden this spring.
