Took a little off-road trip up high (7800') just to look around and see beautiful country out the back door. Lodgepole pines, White Bark pines. Ponderosa pines, Doug firs, Subalpine firs, Englemann spruce etc all around. To late to collect but always looking and marking this time of year.

The one tree (4') with the 1-1.5" purple cones has me a bit stumped. I am assuming it is a Sub-Alpine fir but have not seen one like that before.

I feel very lucky/blessed to have this area so close to me. Wish there was a club close with knowledgeable people. No club, no people where I live.

Amazing scenery . Yes the eastern flat lander thinks your blessed . Especially having it all to yourself . I would be doing some pre prep trimming . . As for the species no idea I think you need far better pics of close up of foliage stems bark buds and cones . I have grown to really like the plant identifier app on my phone . Not always right but it helps a lot . Get one you have to pay for free ones not worth having . Mines like 30 bucks a year
