Tree ID Please Maple?

Hi all
This is a cutting i took off a tree in my yard but dont know what kind of tree it is.The last pic is of the tree cuttings was taken from.The leaves have five lobes and are bright red in the spring and have a purplish color all summer .i think its a maple but not sure of the type

That's (almost certainly) a Norway maple, Acer platanoides. Great for shade, because of their density.

I'm afraid I've never heard of anyone finding them very useful for bonsai, nor can I recall ever seeing one in a bonsai display. You could still use it for a "learning tree," tho.
