Hi,

my neighbors offered me to dig this up because they are moving to Oregon from California. I’m wondering what kind of conifer it is. My initial thought is that it’s some kind of spruce. Anyway, I trust my bonsainuts will give me the right answer:)

Thank you 🙏

Can't rightly tell you off the bat, but here's a link for conifer identification. I think this is the one that helped me a while back. Otherwise, I couldn't tell you exactly. Sorry.

I think its Italian stone pine - there are some long needles coming off the top branches. Thoughts?

Stone pine sounds likely given a tree that is already a few years old but still has lots of juvenile foliage. Adult needles are quite long and coarse.

Yes, this looks just like some stone pine seedlings that I planted this year. Italian stone pines are also ridiculously common in California , so that is further evidence.

I don't see a bonsai there but anything is possible I suppose.
