Found this and thought I'd share, a link to download a PDF of a free tree identification book form the government of British Columbia. So if you are located in the Northwest area you might find it useful.

You can also order a hard copy for ten bucks. Which I did and will post how it is when I get it.
Seems pretty good? It's not super tech, it has every thing from tree parts to fairly good pics of identifying various trees.

If you check th website for your state's Division (or Department) of Forestry, you likley will find that they offer PDF books of trees native to that state. I know, for instance, thet Florida and North Carolina have one.
