Hey everyone!

Wanted to show you all the progress on my oak sapling so far.

Anyway, it’s going good so far. Weather is starting to warm up, so I may be able to move it outside soon.

Anyway, I have a question for you all. Is a fig tree, the type that bears fruit, possible to turn into a bonsai? I’m not looking to make the tree fruit, I just thought a fig would be good for bonsai.

Ficus carica is the edible fig. It is related to the tropical figs and shares their incredible hardiness and resilience and respond really well to pruning and root reduction. The leaves are much larger than the species normally used for bonsai and though they will reduce in a pot and with good pruning leaves are still a bit large for most bonsai.
If you don't mind a bonsai with larger leaves or are willing to grow a larger tree to suit leaf size edible fig is very suited to your bonsai needs.
