Here is a RoR Trident I started a few seasons back. Very happy with the large root placements and strength of attachment. Will get a proper photo of it potted this weekend 429881AB-F2EC-4E28-8C47-E8002091379A.jpegD4E9D895-D2C4-4D29-AC12-41E77B8E59B2.jpeg6EB4B9A6-5B63-460F-A4C3-E020059F7533.jpegA824A6C2-0430-4CC0-87D1-9962825A563C.jpeg

It was, but also on the ground in one of my garden beds so the roots could escape. This tree was 4’ last spring. Fertilized well and put on about 6’ in the growing season. With this in mind I knew it would probably be good to remove the wrap altogether and forgo re-wrapping the lower section of rock and roots.

Nice to see someone trying the foil wrap technique.
Looks like you could have bare rooted a little further before putting it on the rock?

It was bare rooted and placed on the rock in spring of 2018, these shots are the “opening ceremony” ;)

Opening root over rock plants is great. Like Christmas or birthday - You never know what you are going to find inside.
I assume you will put this back to develop a bit more? Roots probably need more thickening and some more growth up top will help develop the new leader and heal the chop.

I see some roots underneath other roots and from under the trunk. In my experience these tend to lift the tree away from the rock as they thicken so keep an eye on that as it grows.
