Trident trunk dieback

First post so be kind :) - Looking for advice on my Trident.
Noticed today on the right trunk a significant amount of dieback mid trunk
looks like it started to heal over.
total area is about 50% if the trunk diameter in that area. about the size of my thumb.
I can see black wood at the callus margins.
Aerial section above seemed ok.

Did have problems last spring with fungus curling leaves.

Is this something to worry about?
How would you proceed?

It doesn’t look like a specific disease from those photos, but normal (but severe) dieback from harsh pruning.

If you could post some closer, and clearer photo of the “black wood at the callus margins” someone may be able to help better.

Hard to tell from these pictures. DO you have a larger picture of the damage you are talking about?

In general tridents grow over damaged areas well, so that is a good thing.
