Hi BonsaiNuts,

I want to remove the thorns from a Brazilian Rain Tree and a Texas Ebony, and have heard differing advice on the right way to do it. Some say you can cut them off flush, others say you have to leave room for die-back. What do you say?

I just try to get enough off to eliminate getting stuck. Sometimes I cut off more than at other times. I haven't noticed any die back but I don't deliberately try to cut right next to the trunk either.

Bunch of wimps!!!:p:D
Leave the thorns on it.....
You will find that you get much better real fast at trimming, wiring, or anything else with these trees.
