Hi all,

Thought I'd give mylar a try again. I used it a while back, but gave it up due to its inability to withstand humidity. However, I've got one greenhouse for humidity, and this one will just be a standard, light reflecting setup.

Granted, mylar works best when it's not creased as badly as I've creased it, but it should still work just fine. With 6 T5 HO bulbs above it, it seems to be pretty dang bright. I'll add some shelving in the next few days and stick some trees in it, then see how they do. Should be interesting.

By simply having trays full of water down at the bottom of the setup and adding a lid, I'm able to get humidity in the mid-60s range. Adding trees will only increase that.

I actually haven't used this just yet, as I'm considering a big overhaul of my indoor growing. I want to combine all of my lights into one big setup. That would be a total of 14 T5 bulbs above the plants. I'd have a fan to circulate air, of course, and it should make for a decent grow area.

That sounds like an entire room dedicated to growing, like an indoor greenhouse. Have I got the right idea? :D

with all the mylar, one would of thought you worked for NASA.
:)

It seems like you might get better advice on topics like this on marijuana growing forums. They are into maximizing indoor space with, lighting, mylar, nutrients etc. Creative solutions abound. You can buy some intense, pre-made mylar "grow chambers" at hydroponic stores, at least the ones in my neck of the woods. Big enough to walk in.

Of course I wouldn't advise anyone to grow pot, unless you can legally or just feel like living on the edge.

Sort of, but it probably wouldn't be as big as you're thinking since it would only be as big as the T5 light fixtures are to maximize light ;)

You would think! :D

I've seen those sort of big mylar setups, but the reason I'm not interested in getting one of those is because with those you encase the light inside the big setup, and I like to give my plants humidity, and I'm just not comfortable having high humidity and lights in the same area.

However, I have posted on a marijuana forum about the way I grow and to this day I haven't got a response (posted the thread 3 months ago). Guess if it's not about marijuana they aren't interested :p

Probably right. I still think there would be useful information there for you, once you drill down through the pot-specific stuff.

Can't comment of the light + humidity thing. I've never attempted anything indoors. Obviously some of those dudes have, and are comfortable with that horticultural risk.

They use big metal halides in those tents, something I would never attempt . Temps in those setups get up into the 100s, to the point of where they have to use exhaust fans and lots of ventilation. No thank you
