Want to confirm that this is true Kingsville... What ya think?

I like 'em regardless, just curious. I found a bunch of these for cheap, cheap.

Also, would wiring them this time of year be totally offensive?

Thanks.

Not 100% but this doesn't look like Kingsville to me. In my opinion, Kingsville looks more congested... But I really like yours regardless of what type, I would've bought many

There is some confusion about true Kingsville dwarf, so it's possible there are some imposters out there; while even the growers may be confused of what they're growing/selling.

And not sure about the wiring, I know their bark slips really easily and not sure if this time of year would make that worse or not.

I don't think this is true KB The real one grows at minus 5mm per year. Thee is no elongation of the stems. (still good material though)

Kingsville is not the name anyway the name you are wanting is Buxus microphylla 'Compacta'. There are other dwarf cultivars as well like 'Morris Midget' that grows a bit faster.

I would guess morris midget as well. I have kingsville, a fairly old one, and its still puny. If it puts on an 1/8" growth per year thats a good year. So this one looks too vigorous for that.

My Dwarf English Boxwood seem to want to throw many low buds like that....
Haven't really noted it on anything else....
Leaves are quite similair.

But....

Who cares!

How bout some better pics of that base!

You think it's safe to chop? Lol!

I do like the growth habit on yours however. Maybe you should take some cuttings!

There will be lots of cuttings this spring as you can see from the pic! I'm excited for the potential of these trees...

I actually believe this is cultivar unique to Charleston, SC. From what I understand they were started on one of the plantations.

I'm thinking about going back and buying the whole lot (about 30 or so).

I don't think it is a true Kingsville. It has some similarities though so my guess is that it is a cultivar.

If you do, I will trade you for one. Let me know, I bet we can work something out. :)
