Can anyone point me to info on trunk chopping/development for achieving nice taper, etc? I have about 40 tridents and another 20 c.elms that have been in the ground for 2 years. Most are 3'-4' now. I like to go about this the right way.
Go to www.bonsai4me.com under "Advanced Techniques."
The biggest thing to learn is what sort of cut you should use on specific species, as well as what time of year. Also, if the species is prone to die-back, etc. you will want to cut the trunk differently.
Just google "bonsai trunk chop" and use the search feature on this site.
