Trying to plan my own mix

soooo.. what did you use as mix?

Well, I had really in depth conversation about which trees I owned and what size pots they were going in and what my plans were for the season. I told them I had pine bark, sphagnum moss peat, perlite and molar clay. There advice was to use a 50/50 of molar clay and perlite. They explained it was a drier mix and told me If I found I was watering a lot I could contact them for advice.
I thought it would be a quick answer but they spent ages explaining everything from particle size to temperature, surface tension to storage of nutrients.

I've been given advice from my club and have made my own mix. I also won a Chinese elm cutting in the raffle.
Nice. What did you go with in the end?

I will do. It feels good having my own pots and soil. I can repot things now. I can't wait to get a few trees potted up.
