I consider this a twin trunk but others don't- what do you say?

I say no. To me that is too high up to be called a second trunk. I'd call it a branch.

no. division is way too high up. division should go all of the way or just about all of the way down to the soil

If your tree looked like this, then I'd call it a twin trunk:

Not a twin trunk. I'd call it a secondary apex.

Ill add another no to that question. The branch is too high up to be considered a trunk.

I disagree with the rest i think it's nice. No need to make it something it isn't if we didn't know that a twin trunk is "supposed" to start at the nebari we'd all like this tree. It's got a great trunk and is unusual so for me I think it's a cool tree and it's natural in its unnaturalness. Is it a juniper?

No one's saying it's bad or ugly, just that it isn't a twin trunk. Nothing needs to be done, it's a beautiful tree.

It could be considered a twin trunk. I think some Japanese or Japanese trained bonsai artists would call it a twin trunk. Nice tree.

Come on, it's obviously a naturalistic formal upright :)

Whatever you call it, very nice tree...unique!

Yes a CA Juniper

Actually two very well known Japanese bonsai artists have called this a twin trunk.

Its a great tree!
But I might be tempted to make two really nice bunjin trees out of it if it was mine. Not saying that you should. I've got trees with similar options that I've been thinking about for years. That's part of the fun.

Nice Tree

Nice tree & nice pot...but for me they don't work together. I know you think of this one as a literati but I think there is too much foliage mass....

Twin trunk or not...who really cares...its a nice tree.

You could always split the dead down the middle to make it a more traditional looking twin trunk if you so desired.

Be interested to know who they are/were?
Kenji and Tomahiro Masumi have both said it was a nice mother daughter tree-
though they did both say it would be more traditional if the trunks split lower.
