Two Honey Locusts- Field Grown

I saw two different honey locusts and hacked them late last year to bare roots and stumps. I’ve heard mixed reviews on using honey locust, but I feel like the size may be acceptable eventually. I just love the look of the compound leaves.

Used to have a few of these in the landscape at our old house. Always liked the foliage. Never tried them for bonsai.

It’s certainly going to be interesting. I don’t know that I would have tried them if the trunks weren’t already a decent size. We’ll see. I’m a sucker for compound leaves

One died, the other is doing alright. I couldn't correct that long internode on the leader, so I tried a big cut- I'm hoping it'll throw more buds either on the trunk or at the base of the old leader that I can use.
