This Ulmus was purchased last winter and looked like this:

During the last year it was pruned (the top) and pretty much left alone (water and feed). It is quite a strong tree and sprouted all over.

after leaves dropped:

Today after some light cleaning and minor wiring:

It will be repotted next spring, still has a long journey ahead.

Best,
Julio

Nice start, nice tree, I may have to get one.
Every journey starts with a single step.

I actually started thinking about the pot, and realized that a rectangular pot might better fit this tree (more masculine that feminine?)

I have checked a few pots from Swiss ceramists (I’m based in Basel).
I like this one so far

Cool but a bit too Safari for me

does someone have references for potters around Central Europe (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, north Italy)?

Horst Heinzlereiter in Austria is one of the premier bonsai potters on the planet...I've got several of his pots. They're excellent

Peter Krebs is German and another high-end long-time bonsai potter

Very nice progression. ✌️

I like the second pot better, but maybe a less "showy" pot would match the tree better - or is it the same one on the other side ?......
