Years ago, a friend ripped this up from the side of the road and threw it at me saying ''try this''. It was a three branch stick which was a sucker from a large tree probably planted a century ago on the border of a old farm.
I thought it was a piece of crap but I potted for the sake of politeness. This is the result years after and it turned out to be one of my best elms. If I new then what I know now I would have started 100 of them.
Moral.....Don't judge a stick by it's present crappyness!

Do you any pictures of this tree in development? I'd love to see its history.

Nice tree, congratulations!

9?
We have not seen or heard much from Mike either here or on Ausbonsai for a while. Maybe just has not had anything to debate or too busy with orchids?
Should be well into repotting by now if still keeping the bonsai going.
