Here's a little Ume I got from Muranaka Bonsai. It was $60 for any tree in their growing field and I dug it in 08. It had no branching on it when I got it. This tree was grown from seed, not cutting and had 5 white flowers this year. There is still one flower at the top, but it's facing the back so you can't really see.

The tree still needs a lot of development before it could be shown, but i've really enjoyed working on it so far. Future plans for this tree include thickening the main apex, creating a better transition of taper towards the top of the tree, either hollowing or making shari on the middle right hand section of the trunk with scars and continuing to develop the branch structure.

Below is a pic that fellow forum member Bonsai Barry-Jeff took of me- I think in 09 or 10 with it at a Peter Tea workshop.

Thanks for the nice comments! Barry- it's in an oversized Japanese pot currently. Ill probably keep it in this one for the next 3-5 yrs or maybe longer to give it more vigor to thicken the new apex.
