Ume in Inland Empire !

I posted this tree years ago, but I can not find that post any more.
It gave first flowers today.

There are 2 really tiny flowers . I used the tip of my index finger for comparison

Thanks. Yes, it needs a cold weather. In OC, I don’t know if winter is cold enough to help ume! You may try. I saw House of Bonsai had a lot of ume prebonsai with white, pink and red flowers for sale about 7-8 years ago. You may contact Vicky to see if she still has them for sale .

Thanks. No, this pot from China. I bought it from one China store about 13 years ago. I like it because its design and color theme almost is as same as Cây Mai pot !

I brought these 3 trees out to removed all dead short branchlets yesterday. My ume has got this years and cold weather is the best time to do that .
After I did, I placed them in the north side of the garden, so they can get more cold temperature.

This one is ume grafted on American plum seedling by me about 8 years ago. I grafted really low: right above root neck area .

Getting there !
For me, I love to watch the flowering buds on their branchlets. I can sit there and look at them for an hour easily! Then, when the blooming starts, the most interesting period is when it has only one and then a few flowers on the tree, for the tree with one kind of flower; if the tree with more than one kind of flowers, I like to see more flowers scattering on tree.
