You ready?
Yesterday, I was "fighting", or whatever you call, "me having a reasonable conversation while she argues", with the Sorceress...and a thing about goals came up....
Reasonable goals.
Dated Goals. (Like growing a pumpkin for halloween)
Undated Goals. (Like growing zucchini and picking them before they are seedy)
Etc.
She is trying to buy a house in May.
A terrible decision based off emotions, and an unreasonable dated goal, which instantly becomes reasonable if left undated and we wait one more year till my youngest is in school full time, and we can both work full time.
She said..."I don't give a fuck if we get evicted from here..."
Needn't go any further to see how the goal of owning a house, on any set time line, is highly unreasonable when getting evicted puts so many things out of our control.
I told her it is like having a goal to make an excellent dinner on the daily schedule set for 5pm.
But also having "throw out all the food" on the schedule at around 2pm.
Without removing that 2pm goal, or adding a 3pm goal to go to the store....
You can't accomplish the Main goal of making an excellent dinner.
Somehow that is the same thing going on with this endeavor.
(No doubt in your excitement to have such a dope ass tree)
That excitement is your emotion if there is one.
Hmmmm....
In thinking about it....
This is what I Know.
That excitement is what created this scenario.
I know you are dedicated enough to overcome these "issues" in time....
But in an effort to exploit the necessity of FASTER, FURTHER, FUTURE VISION.....
lets talk about these contradictions....
Or possible contradictions.
I keep reading Shohin....
But if the root spread is at the bottom of what was that 6-8in pot....it's near impossible.
It doesn't matter yet, it may lend itself to something else.
Let's leave....
We don't know what the base is doing yet.
Right out their in every thought.
Being that so much depends on what the base does, we haven't reached step one.
"Empty your cup" of steps 3-5 for now!
Anything I can imagine going on below what is exposed now isn't going to change this fact for me....
The split section and resulting DW and jins is very large.
Bringing foliage closer to it is going to make it visually larger. Too large IMO, to convey a small tree.
Being that the gold in these here yamadori is to utilize all that DW....
I would consider starting foliage pads up there away from the DW, to make it visually smaller, and lessin the need to reduce it.
Something about celebrating this American Yamadori, making it something the Japanese want, not something they already have.....
.....
Some thoughts....
As Lance said, there is more or less 2 sections.
I think the biggest difficulty with this tree, is going to be making that split, that "event ", look more like a full size event..
As it is...it looks like a Shrub that got ran over by a 4x4.
Is tearing this down the center for a 2fer out of the question?
It seems some jins need deleting....
I love that one that curves back in....
But hate how it....curves back in!
The pointy Bulls horn looking one in the back seems the most fitting for the tree in my goggles.
Don't know if this ends well as I have to go....
But this is a great thinker and I still can't believe summer is over! So close!
If keeping as one....
I love this bit of angle change and....
Slight right DW REDUCTION....
if you can successfully get that right foliage moving left with that jin.....pimp!
