Veteran's Day

Yesterday for Veteran's Day I rode up into the Saddleback Mountains and helped replace an old US Flag at the top of one of the trails. It was REALLY WINDY Everyone in the photo is a veteran.

It seems a bit solitary,i'm guessing the Himalayan thing for multiple flags will be very slow to take root.

It is a bit solitary... but it is very beautiful. This spot is at 2100 feet elevation, and you can easily see from here to the ocean. The nearest peak, about 5 miles away, is 5600 feet, so this is really just a knoll on the ridgeline. However it is the upper end of a very famous downhill track called the "Luge" - and it has had a flag there for years. If you don't replace it once or twice a year, the flag gets trashed. In the past, it had solar powered night lighting, but it appears people keep taking / damaging the lights.
