Seen in a link how ones were displaying vintage ornaments. I thought it charming. Figured if I come across a lot, to pick them up.

So a friend posted a few days later of a HUGE box for sale. I asked if they were plastic for I wanted to display them outside. They were...

I jumped at the opportunity to purchase them. Well, he mentioned they were 5"... And some 3". I thought circumference. Well, man was I in for a surprise!

So I found a giant wire vase/urn to put them in. Will look nice outside on my leaded glass bonsai bench. Looking forward to it arriving!!! The bulbs he and his wife had for 60 years, gotten them from an older man who claimed he had them while. So a good 60 years old at least.

Great display idea, Darlene. I especially like the picture with all the tree topper spires clustered together.

Those big ornaments you got will look good outside!

Those topper spires are gorgeous! Which is why I shared them...glad you had the appreciation I as well had. And thanks...I sort of can't take full credit since I seen that link on Facebook from a friend commenting that bulbs any age...can be beautiful displayed in unusual ways. I was just...Not expecting the size...that my son and I laughed and laughed at my original intentions of a dining room centerpiece with any leftovers I might have. Now, to wait patiently for my wire urn to arrive. I will post photos when it's together...Love that it's actually going to be bigger than life since displaying it outside. (Well at least larger than the normal size ones that hang on our tree.)

Nice pictures Darlene. I have some older vintage ornaments as well. I hang them on the tree. One is my favorite because my Grandparents bought it for me the day I was born so it's 47 years old this month. Still looks brand new I'm very protective of that one lol. I'll snap a pic of it when I get a chance.

Thanks for the B day wishes. Here's some pics for ya. The first pic is the toy soldier ornament my grandparents bought for me when I was born. It always has a place dead center of the tree. I make sure to twist the wire hanger around the branch so it doesn't fall lol. The 2nd pic is another old ornament which is one of my favorites. My other Grandmother bought that one years ago downtown at Hudsons when they were in Detroit. Then there's a few other pics for ya. If you can't tell I enjoy this time of the year a lot. Nothing better than family around a tree and home decorated for Christmas.

@Steve C ...A glass ornament. Very fragile indeed. You can tell you have cherished it this entire time. Lovely decorations...very colorful. My decor in the downstairs hangout is of our sentimental ornaments and our village. But...I have no photos of them this year. Upstairs...is slightly...country/primitive to a degree.

Had a friend ask me to tag him in a photo of my crazy tree...I was like...Crazy? We have four up. One vintage silver one that was my husband's grandparents years ago. And the one with the kids homemade ornaments in the basement. He meant the snowman head topper apparently with the battery flickering candles.

These snowflake ornaments we've had for 8 years now. Initially purchased for a photo to hang on the dog stocking. I had spares. So my son said we should go back and buy more and put words that we think of when we think of Christmas. So we did...and hang them above the mantel each Christmas. I so love decorating for Christmas. We start the day after Thanksgiving. The mixed match Christmas/winter theme dinner plates come out. Mixed matched...because I read an article in a magazine once. If you do that...you never have to worry of a plate breaking and having not enough numbers to feed people. You just go out and buy another plate. My boys all have their "favorite" plate that they bought when we started the tradition years ago. But...It's fun. Guests love the plates.

A new addition is the wreath...Loved the song ribbon. It also has bird on the burlap bow. So I hung it from a rusty doorknob birdhouse that hangs on the wall.
