Visiting Charlotte, NC

I'm going to be traveling to Charlotte / Gastonia this next week for three days. Depending on how the business side of the trip goes, I may have the entire third day 'off'. Are there any great bonsai exhibits / gardens / nurseries around the immediate area that I should make a point to visit?

Unfortunately, per their website, it appears that they may only be open on Saturdays and Sundays (others by appointment) and I'd probably be free on Wednesday. As I was just looking to wander around and look at things rather than bother anybody or buy anything, I may skip it.
