Warning - to Older Heads

Folks,

some time in the early 2000's on IBC a warning about people harvesting
experience for books [ or sales or other ] was made by Ms. Iris Cohen.

Feels like that is being done presently.

In response to the above we took to staggering x years, on our research.
So if something was discovered, it would be 5 to 10 years before it
left home / the island.

By the way it got to be so bad on IBC, a contributor whose father was
Guyanese, and he was Spanish born, wanted to protect K from a certain
European. So he spilled the beans on him.
Be ware, techniques may now be so well known, it's harvest time for new
information.

Geez it would be nice if I knew what you are talking about. If it is so esoteric and limited to a select minority of this forum you should not post it here without an appropriate explanation.

Well Vance,

you are an older head and a member of IBC.
So perhaps, I am trying to get your attention.
Would you like your ideas borrowed and no one acknowledged
them as yours.

Ever notice that when I mention the use of Leca, I mention the
lady from Denmark - Yvonne G. [ IBC ]
Because she was the first to mention the idea.
I try to be fair.

So say I saw someone doing very basic repotting and it was
already a very old practice.
And I got suspicous as to why it was being presented like
it was new.
I believe you know.

Yes I do know I could go around the Net and item by item attribute them back to me. I did not realize that this was what you were talking about. Does it bother me? Yes a little bit but what can I do about it and if I did what would the result of the aftershock be? Sometimes the aftershock can be worse than the actual earth quake.

I know that if I screw up, people would rather not see their names attached to it. It's a double edged blade having your name attached to something. You can get the credits, but also the blame.

I knew Iris Cohen, she must have passed away, if not she would be over 100, and probably just as fiesty. She was fun in the way she alone could be. I really liked her, though many battled with her, she and I always got along. Her horticultural knowledge was deep.

hmmm... I have Anthony on ignore. when I opened this thread, this was the first post that came up. I felt with your answer I had to know what was going on. I took Anthony off ignore for 60 seconds and read the opening post. I was still confused. I read on and he explained in a second post.

After I understood, it was clear that I didn't care. I put him back on ignore. I'll know better next time.

Like @Vance, I think it would be nice if people attributed new ideas to the originator but that's not why I teach and post. If I tell someone or post something I think is good I do it because I want to advance bonsai, not for glory. When I am confident that something I have developed is useful I am happy for others to know and use if they wish - no strings attached as far as I'm concerned.
