no, its got two holes in the pot.Nice tree.
Are you growing that like a cypress without drainage?
collected it as a seedling under a full size water oak so that is the ID I am going with. Leaves are narrower than Live Oak so its not that for sure. Live Oak is pretty much the only alternative from where I collected it in an urban setting.Hansom little guy. That is a water oak?
I guess that is now on my list.collected it as a seedling under a full size water oak so that is the ID I am going with. Leaves are narrower than Live Oak so its not that for sure. Live Oak is pretty much the only alternative from where I collected it in an urban setting.
Quercus nigra is the latin name. Native all along the coast from NJ to Texas. I am inland FL so it should be here. As a landscape tree its not too popular, kind of tall skinny growth habit. So far making a nice Bonsai tho.I guess that is now on my list.
This is true. In areas where Williow Oaks, Water Oaks and Live Oaks live it can be really hard to tell the difference. Especially until they are older. I have a Live Oak that looks very similar. The leaves look like Q. phellos, willow oak. Granted, its pretty young and the leaf shape could change. I've also read that water and willow oaks hybridize readily though.
If the latest picture is showing new leaves the time to repot has probably passed.Trying to decide on a repot or wait one more year. I suspect I will need to break the pot if I wait too long.
they are fresh leaves. It seems to flush and drop a few times a year for me, so I can wait a little for the next one.If the latest picture is showing new leaves the time to repot has probably passed.
