I had another thread but it's title had "help" in it and I don't want all you kind hearted nuts to try and help when it is now a progress thread.

I noticed that I have, what I think, are a wood eating pest.

But the most interesting thing that I found was that there is just a small living vein that wraps around dead wood.

I was thinking of getting it grow for another couple of years hoping that the vein would thicken up making a twisting appearance around the dead wood.

Here is some pics and a 2nd set with where it is.

I would first kill off the pest. You don't want the dead wood to decay and disappear too quickly, the live vein needs to thicken enough to support the tree before wood falls away, otherwise the tree will collapse, and die.

Otherwise, let the tree grow. This could become quite interesting.

I didn't think about the dead wood decaying. I will let it grow for a few years. It grows pretty fast.

As for the pest I will get something for it tomorrow after work.

Thanks
