He is bound and determined to tell me that the tree is the epicenter of the ring.
He says that the leach field is 30 feet away from the septic tank service port....he's adamant.

Only thing I can think of is it's a fairy ring. I don't know enough about them to say whether it's related to the tree or not - but fairy rings are due to a fungus.
