I am fairly new to the art of bonsai and was seeking advice as to when to do everything with this Western Larch which was given to me. When should I prune it, should I transplant it into a bonsai pot right now or wait for spring, when should I wire it, what soil mix should I use for it, any other advice/tips?

Thanks,

The common time to repot a larch is in the spring as the buds swell. Obviously this is past that point. It is a bit on the thin side if it were mine I'd just let it grow. You could wire in some basic trunk movement now while it is thin. I am not sure the best time of year for that. So I'd wait for someone else to way in.
