Looks like their blooms.
Just to avoid confusion in the future, the genus name is Liquidambar, though this is nitpicky as I'm sure we all know what you meant 😅

Liquid amber, liquid amber and sweet gum are still recognised common names...

Should those blooms be removed to avoid energy drain or no harm keeping them? Assume energy has,already been used to create them.

If you are trying to direct energy elsewhere, you probably want to cut them. Depends on what you're trying to do. I let a lot of my stuff flower just because I like to see the flowers... usually cut when they're done. Especially on something that produces larger fruit. Citrus etc.
