Small trees fit a standard sedan, but what about big trees? Are you using a cargo van, a pickup or what else?

2004 Silverado.
Has a cap on the back.
Shovels, saws and buckets are in there in case I find something.

If you can lay the seats down, I’ve seen many 17 gallon plants go into the back of cars.

I have a midsize suv, never had an issue.

I pick my material based on my mode of transportation; if I can't put it in a backpack, it's too large for me.
I have my two feet, a bicycle and a moped. Yamadori material over here is quite literally non-existent, because we have no mountains. Everything from the woods is carried on my back.
Ever since I hauled 1/3rd of my body weight through the Swiss Alps for 3 days, everything else feels like a breeze.
