Google Lens said Pecan, but I literally have no idea. It was growing in the Ivy, right next to the fence. I ruthlessly yanked it out of the ground, and stuck it in a "pot"... being a little laundry basket-thing that I lined with burlap. The roots are sitting in a mix of aquarium gravel, NAPA 8822, and potting soil... I didn't have enough to fill the entire "pot", so the upper third is potting soil.

Today was probably its first intentional fertilizer and watering, and also its first full afternoon sunshine.

What's the easiest way to tell Pecan from Tree of Heaven?

I would much rather it be Pecan, as they can live over 200 years and Ailanthus altissima rarely lives to see 100.

The leaves are serrated all the way to the tip... which, according to cisma-suasco.org, is a way to tell the invasive Tree of Heaven from "Look-alikes". Apparently, the Tree of Heaven only has serrations on the lower half of its leaves.

Hopefully this points towards Pecan instead of Tree of Heaven.
