Accidentally worked on a tree today
have been attempting to fuse F. elastica for 6 months, I have peeked a bit in the past. Went to peek again and curiosity got the better of me, you know how it is. Before:
It's a good thing I checked. Super wire bite, reverse taper forming. Trees are well stuck together in only 6 months. Wish I had a before before pic. Not done yet though.
Lots of these weird aerial roots, growing flat in between the garden tape. There's a few that are full of life, with tiny root hairs, all paper flat.
After part 1:
More fusing! I'll try and parse this out more style wise when I cut back next fall. Broom?
Added a pot full of sphagnum to encourage those aerial roots to sort themselves out. It's an ugly beast, but I'm impressed with it's vigor. I'm surprised we don't see this species attempted more often.
