Ficus time down here. Club meeting last night with the focus on ficus and other Aussie native plants so I trimmed and repotted some ficus last night and more this afternoon.

climate zone envy. Sitting here with a "frozen" finger as I was unwise to go outside :)

Smoked 3 bowls of pipe tobacco and sat transfixed with indecision while contemplating which trees to switch pots on. Tomorrow probably the same thing. Getting close to having to quit dithering and actually do it.

Oh yeah....moved a really heavy tree so this morning I have the heating pad on my arthritic shoulder

This is a "picture required" thread. Where's the picture of you toking on your pipe?!

Starting some larch seeds.

Dang! Three bowls of a packed tobacco pipe is like 30-40 minutes of smoke...

"Transfixed" sounds right!

Yak yac yac... Mo pics due!

Earlier in this thread I showed a larch I wired and mentioned I broke a branch. For the heck of it I stuck it in with some ficus cuttings. Today I see budding! Not sure it's survival instinct or really rooting.IMG_20230125_124157301.jpgIMG_20230125_124148306.jpg

Story of my my bonsai experience. The fam checks in on me from time to time from the window and laughs at me still staring at the trees as I change my angles to get a different view and move the mulch around.

Pot switching takes intense and time consuming cogitation. ;)

Another ficus today - trim, defoliate and repot.

Nearly time for a larger pot. The nebari only just slips in font to back. These ficus just keep thickening despite small pots. Current pot is the third upsize over the life of this tree.

Then tackled the larger ficus.
This tree is from the same batch of seed as the previous tree and also grown from 2 seedlings planted close together to fuse as a twin trunk. Only difference was this larger one was initially planted in a larger container to bulk up quick.
This one was overgrown and had a major cutback in November and I've been putting off the inevitable new shoot selection but it needs to be done and today was the day.

Incidentally this tree is getting to hard for me to manage so it is up for sale. Apologies that I can't offer it to most of the B'nutters due to distance and import restrictions.
The resident Dwarf green tree frog was a bit grumpy at losing his cover buts stayed in place through the entire operation.
