I thought it looked more masculine, lol!

Ha! You gave me a great grin.
I debated saying the roots have a strong gravitational connectivity to the craggy surface of the rock. But....clingy won out.

I lost the Apex, along with the approach graft that I started this past winter… But that doesn’t matter where they happy trident :). More than a couple of buds popped right at the base of the original Apex, so I picked one, let it run for a minute, then wired it for shape. The cascading Branches grew unchecked for half the summer and have thickened up dramatically.

Wow looks great for just 2 years of growth, nice! In the future as it develops adding some of those dwarf satsuki as underbrush may be a nice addition

Another step forward for this one. It got moved from the nursery can to a wooden grow box to start the transition from vertically growing roots on the rock to a more horizontal surface nebari... Kind of winging it here :), but I think it’s gonna work!

This tree reminds me of the Tree of Woe. It must be tied to the Rock of Woe.

I THINK I'm gonna take that as a compliment... and, fwiw, that was my favorite movie... when I was 15 :D .
It's STILL one of my favorites!

And yes, that's a compliment! It's such a cool and interesting tree to look at. I love it. 😍

Very inspiring. I've got maples and rocks. Lacking in time a bit though.
