Im cutting azaleas right now and trying to bring movement to the future trunks through clip and grow
I was wondering what happens to extreme changes of direction, say a 90° turn or even more extreme, when the area goes from a few millimeters to a few centimeters with time

Generally, sharp bends on a small diameter branch or trunk will appear to soften as diameter increases. The angle may not actually change, the branch angle, for example 90 degrees, will still be 90 degrees, but the increased diameter will soften the appearance of the bend.
