I'm definitely not a JBP expert....but to me it looks like your average mature Black Pine. Very nice bark. Can we see the whole tree?

It doesn't look like cork bark, just very nice old plated bark.
Lets see the whole tree.

What I've learned about corkbark black pines is that there are quite a few varieties, but the fall loosely into a couple types of bark, flaky/scaly...or...heavy wings. If the tree in your photo is a corker, it's probably the former. My 'Hachi Gen' is considered a corkbark black pine, and its bark is similarly flaky. Other corkbark varieties show deep fissures in the bark, which result in wing-like bark that extends outward. Here are a couple photos of 2 of my corkers, both are pretty young. Also, a couple of bigger corkers, which are not mine...yet...:D

I'd be surprised if this were a cork bark of any variety. Regular containerized black pine develop flaky bark over time.

Thanks for your information so far.
This is a tree bought from Kim's nursery (Phelan, CA) in 1/2009. You can see the price on the pot.(I got 30% off from that price :). It's trunk base diameter is 2 1/2 " , 21" height and 15" width. The 1st pic. was taken in 1/2009. The 2nd pic. was taken few days ago. I let it grow before restyle it; however, it will be received September trimming schedule this year. Bonhe
