i just ordered a fukien tea pre bonsai on ebay. it comes in a training pot, but i was wondering what kind of permanent pot would be best?
i have a how to bonsai book; so i can tell what kind of pot you are talking about.

here is a pic :140CAD8DGVC.jpg
(i plan on repotting somewhere up the road.)

Judging by the size, maybe a thimble :D?

I think he's joking about the size of your picture.

As for my 2 cents, there's no reason to rush into a "real" pot. Once there, it will be tougher to further develop the branches.

From what I can tell, your plant looks healthy. What sort of soil is it in? Where do you live & do you plan on keeping it outside?

i live in an apartment in elpaso. if you don't know, it often reaches 112 degrees outside here. i have a balcony, but i have nothing to put the tree on. the ebay description says that it is an indoor tree (or at least it can easily adapt to indoor conditions); so i decided to keep it indoors. i don't have any $ for a bench too keep it outside, and it would probaby die quickly from the heat (i know i did XD). can that tree be kept out doors?

Fukien trees are tropical trees, so they can take the heat in stride. If you have a partly shaded area on your balcony, that would probably be perfect. It can take a fair amount of sun, but you'll probably need to acclimatize it to your conditions. There are very few trees that do well inside, ficus is one example. Fukien's are pretty finicky plants to begin with, giving them indoor conditions will just make it all the harder to keep healthy.

welcome to the forum!

Sorry but they misled you (as most FT vendor does). Looks like you have a nice tree there but you really need to find a way to put it outdoors if at all possible. Shaded area will be perfect. I am in Austin and while we don't get as hot, we have our share of heat and my 3 FTs are very healthy outside under shade.
