Hi All,

I have a Dawn Redwood forest here which I planted together from separate trees a few months ago. They all appeared to be thriving. But then I noticed the 2nd tree from the left developping yellow leaves (which I removed) 2 -3 weeks ago and now finally no leaves at all. Im concerned that it is dying /dead. SHould I dig it up, examine the root ball, trim the dead roots and replant it? Or just remove it so it doesnt affect the other trees?

Thank you in advance!

My thought….I’d leave it as a dead tree in the forest. I see them all the time in the woods. Eventually, I’d gently, so I didn’t rock the boat, strip the bark layer off, clean the top of any pruning cut marks, and leave it in the forest….a natural occurrence.

This particular tree just might not have survived the cutting and planting. The other trees look like they are doing fine.
